Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration is formulating a number of regulations to establish a land bank.
"We may issue a presidential regulation either in the end of this year or early next year," Land and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil said in Central Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.
The land bank is expected to support strategic infrastructure projects. The government agency is aimed to resolve land acquisition problems.
"We may reduce the government's dependency on the state budget," the Land and Spatial Planning Ministry expert staff Himawan Arief Sugono said.
The government has certified as many as 2 million hectares of land until now. The government will certify other 3 million hectares of land as soon as possible.
