Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo criticized lack of coordination between ministries in promoting Indonesian products abroad.
"We were questioned by president. Our pavilions (in international festivals) were small and scattered," said Ministry of Trade's director general of national export development Nur Nuzulia Ishak at her office, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/12/2016).
Therefore, the government plans to establish Indonesian Promotion agency (BPI) next year. BPI is a joint agency for promotion activities.
"President wanted to integrate all promotion activities. Hopefully, it could be established in 2017," she continued.
Promotion funds in 17 ministries will be gathered in BPI to be more effective. BPI is tasked to promote Indonesian products, tourist destinations and investment opportunities abroad.
The promotional agency will focus on trade, tourism and investment. It mostly will be managed by professionals," she concluded.
