Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has summoned Turkish Ambassador in Jakarta regarding the arrests of two Indonesian female students in Turkey.
"I have summoned Turkish Ambassador in Jakarta on Monday," Retno said here on Tuesday (8/23/2016).
Retno stated the government has provided legal assistance for the students. A lawyer has met with them in prison.
"We also have contacted the families of the students," she continued.
Turkish officials arrested the students in Bursa City on August 11 for having affiliations to promoinent Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gulen. The Turkish government sees Gulen as dangerous figure.
Previously, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir has clarified the students only received scholarships from the Gulen Movement.
